A mom shared she was feeling down on herself and super aware of her flaws. Sometimes pressures of daily life leave us feeling inadequate. Her son, unaware of this, said “Mommy, God made us all perfect”. Wow. God’s perfect timing on display! Help yourself, and your children remember this awesome lesson.
1. You are enough! Grasping for outside validation often leaves us unfilled. God made each of us unique, with different talents and strengths. At the end of the day, when we live in His truth, and follow His unique calling for us, we will be fulfilled. Embrace your unique qualities, and that of your children!
2. Perfection is an illusion. As I constantly tell the children, we all make mistakes: teachers, parents, children. We all have good and bad days. Remember, who are you trying to reflect? Perfection as established by society, or the character of God? Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We are a work in progress; we all fail. The lesson is to pick ourselves up, and try again. As I tell the kids daily: “Do your personal best.” Stop comparing yourself to the neighbors.
3. What impression do you want to leave on the world? Are we so focused on goals we are considered aloof, unforgiving, closed in? What does this tell others about our testimony of faith? Don’t miss out on beautiful connections along the way. Our existence on this earth really is too short. Embrace the unique design God made in YOU, breathe in each precious moment.
God indeed made us the way HE intended us to be. It’s our responsibility to make the most of what we are given, and to keep the faith!
2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
